3.3.1.26.Welding and Cutting

(1) Except as provided in Sentence (2), welding and cutting operations shall be carried out in a room (a) separated from the remainder of the building by a fire separation having a fire-resistance rating not less than 1 h, or (b) protected by an automatic fire extinguishing system. (2) Sentence (1) shall not apply to industrial occupancies where the welding and cutting operations do not present a fire or explosion hazard to adjacent areas.
